MischMasch: A Tangled Tale
A solvable story-puzzle inspired by Lewis Carroll winner of USC Libraries’ Wonderland Award
What is it? MischMasch: A Tangled Tale is a solvable story-puzzle inspired by the works of Lewis Carroll. Carroll was skilled at combining interesting stories and puzzles with math education. He was especially fascinated with geometry and logic! To read/play this piece, you need to solve math problems to unlock the final clue.
How is this related to Ology, my proposed Adobe Residency project? I'm combining this project with my work in illustration to create a puzzle-filled illustrated/comic narrative. As the story is read, solving the puzzles incorporated in the narrative (which are actually math and science problems in disguise :) ) will help the reader figure out more of the backstory, like who orchestrated the mass worldwide flooding, or who sent the unrequested smuggling shipment?
P.S. You can also check out Brain and Bone for an example of a project I completed that tells a story of a crumbling relationship occurring during a dystopian revolution, using letters and other physical artifacts.
